BP-100 Plus contains pyrethrins, a botanical insecticide derived from chrysanthemum flowers. Pyrethrins provide knockdown and kill of a broad spectrum of insects. Because the concentration of pyrethrin esters can vary based on growing conditions, insects are less likely to develop resistance as quickly as they might to synthetic pyrethroids.

BP-100 Plus Fogging Concentrate contains three active ingredients:

  • Pyrethrins – provides flushing, knockdown and kill
  • Pyriproxyfen – Disrupts insect growth and development
  • Piperonyl butoxide (PBO) – fights metabolic resistance

Juvenile hormone (JH) mimics work by imitating the natural growth hormones produced by insects. By doing so, the insect will go through additional larval stages but will never molt into the pupal stage or turn into an adult.

To have a lethal effect, the active ingredient in an insecticide needs to reach its target site within the insect. Resistant insects commonly have a heightened defense mechanism, cytochrome P450 enzymes, that attack insecticides. Synergist such as PBO bind to these detoxification enzymes, allowing the insecticide to reach its target site and work more effectively.
