Microcare 3% CS Controlled Release Insecticide contains pyrethrins, a botanical insecticide derived from chrysanthemum flowers. Pyrethrins provide knockdown and kill of a broad spectrum of insects. Because the concentration of pyrethrin esters can vary based on growing conditions, insects are less likely to develop resistance as quickly as they might to synthetic pyrethroids.
To have a lethal effect, the active ingredient in an insecticide needs to reach its target site within the insect. Resistant insects commonly have a heightened defense mechanism, cytochrome P450 enzymes, that attack insecticides. Synergist such as PBO bind to these detoxification enzymes, allowing the insecticide to reach its target site and work more effectively.
